Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. - Empties containers into compactor on garbage truck. - Operates hydraulic levers located on truck. - Checks sidewalks and curbs to ensure area is clean. - Inspects all carts for objects that may damage equipment (dirt, iron, wood or rocks). - Picks up trash and assists with street maintenance activities as required. - Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. - Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications. - Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge Of COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES - Knowledge of machinery, equipment operation, and maintenance. - Knowledge of safety practices and requirements. - Knowledge of operation of tractors.
