Landfill Inspector / Field TechnicianLocation: Grand Rapids, MIDuration: 24-month contract with potential extensionIndustry: Utilities / Environmental Compliance
We are seeking a Landfill Inspector / Field Technician to support environmental compliance and construction activities at coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfill sites across Michigan. This role will support landfill operations located near Muskegon, Holland, Bay City, and Monroe, MI.
This position will work closely with landfill operations, engineering consultants, and environmental teams to ensure compliance activities are completed accurately and on schedule. Two landfill sites are currently active and operating, while others are in long-term post-closure monitoring status.
Responsibilities:Oversee environmental compliance and construction-related activities at CCR landfill sitesMonitor contractor performance related to inspections, maintenance, surveying, sampling, testing, and monitoring activitiesSupport closure activities and new cell construction at active landfill locationsReview and maintain environmental and construction recordsAssist with report preparation and documentation for regulatory complianceAudit and verify work performed by third-party engineering firms and contractorsRead and interpret civil, environmental, and construction drawings/documentsCommunicate project updates and field observations to the Landfill Program ManagerEnsure activities are completed in accordance with applicable state and federal regulationsRequired Qualifications:Working knowledge of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulationsUnderstanding of landfill operations, maintenance, and construction practicesAbility to read and interpret civil/environmental drawings and construction documentsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced field environmentHigh School Diploma or GED requiredPreferred Qualifications:Associate degree in a Technical, Environmental, or Construc
