As work experience is gained, employees may be assigned to somewhat more difficult tasks and/or cross-trained to assist and serve as a backup for the Equipment Operator I position. Work is performed under the direction of a supervisor who issues general instructions for routine jobs and specific instructions at the beginning of each new job when departures are made from established procedures. - \*\*Employees within the department or division shall be given first consideration\*\*** - \*\*\*Posting may close at any time\*\*\*** \ **Examples of Work Performed** - Directs traffic at and around the working face of a construction and demolition (C&D) landfill. - Monitors and sorts materials brought into a C&D landfill. - Assists skilled and semiskilled workers in varied building maintenance and repair activities. - Shovels snow and breaks ice from streets and walks. - Assists Equipment Operators in performing equipment maintenance. - Completion of work assignments will require operation of a vehicle. - These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. - Other related duties may be assigned as needed. **Requirements of Work** - Ability to acquire within a reasonable period knowledge of the procedures, tools, equipment and materials used in landfill work. - Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions. - May require the ability to enter data into computer spreadsheets or other software. - Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. - Ability to shovel snow, sand, gravel, dirt, and/or compost. - Ability to tolerate exposure to airborne environmental nuisances associated with traffic and
