Job Description   Job Title:                    Janitor Division:                     Community Contracts Department:               Custodial Federal Building – Custodial Fort Shafter               Reports To:                Custodial Project Supervisor FLSA Status:               Non-Exempt Reviewed By:             Human Resources    SUMMARY Keeps premises of office building, or other commercial or institutional building, in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trims.   Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.      Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.   Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.   Operates a variety of cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, buffing machines, and carpet extractors.   Dusts furniture and equipment. Polishes metal work.   Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, mirrors, door panels, and sills.   Empties and cleans wastebaskets and ashtrays.   Transports trash and waste to disposal area.   Replenishes bathroom supplies.   Notifies supervisor concerning need for repairs to equipment or tenants’ property.   Cleans debris from sidewalk, walkways, and stairwells.   Assists trainees and other persons with disabilities in routine job performance as assigned.
