We are seeking an experienced Forklift Loader/Unloader with a strong background in food-grade product handling, hazmat loading, documentation, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Report to work at Granite City, IL M-F 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load and unload trailers, containers, and warehouse storage areas.
- Perform food-grade loading and unloading in accordance with company and regulatory standards to prevent contamination.
- Handle hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company guidelines.
- Accurately complete and verify all required documentation, including:
- Bill of lading (BOL)
- Lot numbers
- Product ID and quantity verification
- HAZMAT paperwork
- Shipping/receiving records
- Inspect trailers, pallets, and packaging for damage or contamination.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and warehouse best practices.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with shipping, receiving, and quality teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
- Assist with inventory counts and rotation as required.
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
- Experience working with food-grade products and understanding of sanitation requirements.
- Proven HAZMAT handling and documentation experience (certification preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, especially with lot numbers, product tracking, and paperwork accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and OSHA
