Job title:CustodianReports to:Principal, Assistant Principal, or DirectorReceives guidance from:Principal, Assistant Principal, Director, District Administration, or Assistant SuperintendentOvertime status: Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulations Job Purpose In keeping a tradition of excellence, the Custodian will provide students, staff, and guests with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. Duties And Responsibilities - Attend meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions - Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times - Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity - Raise and lower the US flag - Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture - Monitor activities in and around work areas for the purpose of preventing injuries and ensuring site safety; reporting any concerns immediately - Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it - Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilets floors daily, and clean and sanitize fixtures and drinking fountains daily - Wash windows both inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary - Keep the grounds free from rubbish - Perform such yard keeping chores such as grass cutting and tree trimming as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition (as assigned) - Keep floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation - Make minor building repairs - Maintain on a regular schedule motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing - Report immediately to the principal any damage to school property - Remain on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours
